Cool Flatbed Printer Applications
Cool Flatbed Printer Applications
Making a profit with your UV-LED flatbed printer is not difficult especially when you can print some cool applications that can help in marketing your services. What I’m trying to say is that if you own a flatbed printer, you might want to consider making some items that you can display as a way of marketing the capabilities of your wide format printer. In this blog, we’ll discuss a few ideas for some projects you can make with your new MUTOH flatbed.
Flatbed Printing Project #1: Plywood to Exotic Wood
For this wide format printing project, you’ll need a 4×8 foot piece of plywood. Don’t go too cheap, but get something that has a pretty smooth surface and is not warped. The idea in this example is to print on ½ the piece to transform the plain surface of the plywood into the look of an expensive looking wood more exotic piece. We want to show a potential customer that they can transform cheaper products into more expensive looking products with your UV printer.
Here is an image of what your sample would look like. Consider printing it full size and then print another in smaller sections cut in small samples as takeaways. You may need to use your white ink to lay a base and then print the floor image in CMYK. In fact, you could even finish it with a varnish ink to make it looked polished.
The image on the right is also printed plywood, but made to look like brick! Be creative and you’ll have a sample that will simply amaze your customer!
Flatbed Printing Project #2: Plywood to “Art” Wood
Of course, you are not limited to just making cheaper wood look expense. Actually, you could even place images on that wood with your uv flatbed printer.
And why not, since you are already going to be buying some plywood for project #1.
Finding Images for Large Format Printing
If you are wondering where to get the images for this project then try www.pexels.com and you’ll find some high-quality images for download that can be used for any purpose without worry about copyrights.
If needed you may also need to enlarge those images, because you need them to be sharp and un-pixelated. If that is the case, the best way to enlarge them is to download the largest image possible, then use a program called PhotoZoom-Pro to enlarge further with little loss of quality.
Flatbed Printing Project #3: Plywood to “Sculpture” Wood
I assure you, this is printed and not sculpted, but WOW, it sure looks like it doesn’t it?
The trick is to find those images that when printed look 3D. Here’s a source of free ones, though you’ll have to really look around. https://pixabay.com/en/background-glass-broken-art-3603218/
So in this blog, I just wanted to start you thinking about samples and creating them from cheap woods that can look expensive. Why? I want you to get your creative juices flowing and more importantly, get your customer to begin seeing the wider range of things you can do with your MUTOH wide format UV flatbed printer!
